Privacy Policy

Rayna: Secure Messaging  •  Effective date: July 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Rayna: Secure Messaging (“Rayna”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use our mobile application and related services (“Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your phone number and/or email address (used to verify your identity via a one-time passcode, or via Google Sign-In), your display name, and, if you choose to add one, a profile photo.

Contacts

If you grant contacts permission, we upload the phone numbers in your device address book to our servers solely to determine which of your existing contacts already use Rayna, so we can show them to you. We do not use this information for any other purpose, and we do not share your contacts with anyone else.

Messages and media

We store the messages you send and receive so your conversation history is available across your devices, including text, photos, videos, GIFs, and voice messages. Media you send (photos, videos, voice messages, and status updates) is stored on our servers so it can be delivered to the intended recipient(s).

Status updates (“Stories”)

Photos or videos you post as a status update are visible to your contacts for 24 hours, after which they are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers, along with the record of who viewed them.

Calls

Voice and video calls are relayed in real time between participants using a third-party real-time communications provider (see Section 3). We do not record or store the audio or video content of your calls. We do store minimal call metadata (who called whom, call type, and duration) in your chat history as a call log entry.

Device and usage information

We collect a push-notification token from your device (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can notify you of new messages and calls. We also store basic presence information — whether you're currently online and when you were last active — which is visible to your contacts unless you disable this in Settings.

2. How We Use Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages or media for advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third parties to provide parts of the Service. Each processes only what's needed to perform its function:
